The 1962 model year was the last for the Corvette's first generation. Select styling updates added sophistication, and Chevrolet's "small block" V-8 engine lineup delivered greater performance across the board with a displacement increase to 327 CI and four levels of tune. In particular, the Code 396 340-horsepower, 327 cubic-inch V-8 engine powered 4,412 Corvettes for '62, providing much of the performance of the legendary "Fuelie" with a simpler 4-barrel carburetor. Best of all, the 340-horsepower 327 was a screaming bargain for savvy buyers, adding just $107.60 to the Corvette's base pricing.

The Corvette was easier and more enjoyable to drive than ever before, and buyers agreed, with 1962 sales reaching 14,531 cars, an increase of nearly one-third over 1961. Thanks to Zora Arkus-Duntov and his  Corvette engineers, a succession of high-performance options and parts supported Corvette owners and racers, even as the upcoming 1963 Sting Ray was readied for production.

Sporting Roman Red paint over a Red interior, this fully matching-numbers 1962 Corvette features the potent 340-horsepower, 327 cubic-inch V-8 engine, with power delivery via a 4-speed manual transmission and Positraction 3.70:1 rear axle. This Corvette was formerly located in Wyoming, where it was inspected in late 2025 by former NCRS 1961-62 Master Judge Mike Ernst, with his report included with the sale of the vehicle.

According to Mr. Ernst's detailed report, all of this Corvette's major components, from the engine to the transmission, differential, generator, water pump, distributor, starter, and carburetor, appear to be the original components that were factory-installed." Further, according to Mr. Ernst, the Corvette's frame and suspension components suggest that before restoration, this Corvette was "either a summer-only driver, or a car that spent the majority of its life in a dry-weather, no-salt area." Regarding the body, Mr. Ernst stated he "could find no evidence of any previous bodywork; all bonding strips are in place, and it appears to have never been damaged." He also believed the car was originally painted red, based on factory overspray remaining underneath the cowl vent.

Physical evidence suggests the Corvette was never equipped with a removable hardtop. The nearly unobtainable jack, jack handle, and lug wrench are noted by Mr. Ernst to appear to be factory original items. A difficult-to-find GM trunk mat is an over-the-counter GM item. The accurately restored engine compartment features all proper components, including several reproduction items that nonetheless look and fit as original.
